I met Divina in the fall of 1997,
during my Mike (this weird guy in our Philosophy class) phase. We used to party a
lot, specially when Jimmy still had an apartment downtown. I remember one day when
Jimmy was at the hospital (cos his sister was giving birth) and we (Divina and I)
were left over there so we just sat and watched his porn. Oh, I remember when we
were all hanging out and Divina started dancing with Jimmy's little brother and
Ali (who was high) started tripping. Divina, being Divina, was everything short
of molesting the child (the impressionable kid was like eleven or so at the time).
Divina also got me to sign up for a stupid Genesis Health Club membership which
I paid over five hundred dollars for in the course of a year. I used it for a month,
probably two at the most, before I eventually stopped going.
Divina is a free spirit whose
carefreeness is more than just contagious. She, her brother Joseph and I went
to South Padre for spring break on a whim. We had a blast-- but looking back
now, I can't believe how I could've gone when I knew that I was totally broke
(I'd switched from fulltime to parttime several months back). I spent even
more money that I didn't have. It was funny, though, cos we met up with
Jimmy, Tim and Tim's sister in Dallas (on the way there) and partied with them and
crashed in their room at the Ramada Plaza and drank all of our booze in one night--
before we even reached our destination.
Later that spring I met Bradley (who
was in one of my classes) and his friends and started hanging out with them
quite a bit. Ted, in the picture on the right, is one of them. He's a jolly,
ol' teddy bear who can't wash a car to save his life.
Just kidding, Ted.
          Anyway, I helped (I didn't do a lot of
helping really, I was mostly there to just ooh and ah,
be impressed, get wasted, and humiliate myself in front of Jason and Eli) Bradley
move to Kansas City right after spring semester ended. That's
when I almost got stuck there cos my car wouldn't
start. I had to buy a new battery-- and Jason
replaced the old battery with the new one for me.. Bradley didn't even help.
At least, Eli was there to lend his moral support-- which was more than what I expected
from him as he's not particularly fond of doing any auto-related work.
